"Finding Where You Fit"

As  I paint more it bcomes more obvious as to what I enjoy doing. I am so glad that I have had the opportunity of taking a painting course which offers the chance to paint still-life, landscape & portraits. It has been just enough to allow me to "sample" and to see what I like. I find myself leaning toward landscapes & portraits. I think it is important to try different areas because, at one time in my life I thought there was no way I could do a portrait and now I'm really enjoying the challenges that come with it. I hope you try, sooner than later, to discover where your desires are in oil painting. Just try it!

Do better?

Do you ever keep telling yourself, "I wish I could do better?" Well, I do!  We hardly ever get somewhere or improve if we don't keep learning. It's more about discipline & setting aside time. One thing I have learned is that I pretty much have to paint every day if I want to see improvement faster. If you can't find time now then set a goal for next week, one day is better than nothing.  And, don't forget to ask for help online; you can immediately get help by typing in your problem with a color, or whatever, and you will get an answer.
